The nine ‘easy camping’ bell tents, including the two ‘faraway tents’ are set in a beautiful campsite with open campfires, within a five acre semi-ancient bluebell wood in the heart of Sussex. Our forest campsite is located in the High Weald, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The bell tents offer families, couples and small groups a unique off-grid ‘wild glamping’ experience. The tents are set within the trees, providing solitude and privacy from the outside world. The camp is located in West Sussex near Haywards Heath, allowing us to offer easily accessible glamping near London, Brighton, Lewes and Ashdown Forest. Wild Boar Wood Campsite offers an opportunity to camp side by side with nature, whilst enjoying the comfort of our tents, with comfortable beds, cooking equipment, open fire bbq grill and a firewood allocation. It really is off-grid camping made easy!
We do prefer to label our fully equipped bell tents as ‘wild glamping’ as we have no hair dryers, phone chargers, power points, butler service, silk sheets or hot tubs. Rather we provide a fun, relaxed, real camping experience made easy, with just about all the camping equipment you should need, all conveniently set-up and waiting for you in a lovely campsite in a magical woodland.
We have permanent wardens who live onsite to assist our campers at all times. The campsite is ideal for families and small groups, to reconnect and renew friendships, or chat with fellow campers around your campfire. Full campsite bookings are also available for that special celebration. The two ‘faraway’ tents offer a more secluded option, tucked away from the main campsite, for couples and families wanting their own space. Couples may also enjoy the quieter mid-week or Sunday night stays. Please feel free to call or email for advice on dates.
Wild Boar Wood and its surrounding 35 acre field teem with wildlife. Native birds, butterflies, deer, rabbit, hedgehogs and foxes make their homes in the field, hedgerows and woodland. Close by the woodland campsite, the River Ouse meanders through the countryside, offering delightful and scenic walks along its banks to the welcoming local pubs.
The peace and tranquillity is interrupted only by the historic and spectacular Bluebell Railway locomotives as they occasionally thunder past the edge of the woodland campsite!
Our aim is to offer chilled glamping near London in the South of England, in a Sussex forest campsite. We operate a small scale quiet, relaxed and laid back campsite. We don’t allow amplified music and have a low noise policy from 10 pm in the evenings. Dogs and other pets are not allowed to protect the native flora and fauna. We love having couples and small groups of adults to stay and can generally find them a quiet part of the campsite, but big groups of raucous adults should look else where to camp.
We have an area for car parking which is a walk away across the field. Cars may not be driven to the campsite proper. We aim to provide glamping near London in the woods not in a car park. Wheelbarrows are provided to move your equipment to the pitch (and the warden will assist if you need it). It may be a 5 minute walk – but it’s worth it once you set up not to have cars in the campsite. Much safer for children as well!
