Campsite Close to Lewes in Sussex

Hi to all the eco campers out there looking for a campsite nearby Lewes.

Our Wild Boar Wood Campsite is 10 miles as the crow flies from the historic town of Lewes, about a 20 minute drive, if that. The campsite is placed in the Heart of Sussex, on the border of East and West Sussex. The Beech Estate Woodland Campsite is about 23 miles or 40 odd minutes away from Lewes in East Sussex. We have woodland camping with open camp fires at both of these beautiful campsites. Both campsites are close to London and the South Coast – with Brighton within easy reach.

Lewes is a lovely old market town -  the county town of East Sussex, England and historically of all of Sussex. It’s a great location to visit, with lots of quirky antique shops, coffee shops, bars, restaurants and most importantly the Harvey’s Brewery. Harvey’s is Sussex’s oldest independent brewery and the maker of some fine ales (just ask any Eco Camp UK warden!).

Camping near the Lewes countryside offers lots of walks, the River Ouse flows through Lewes and meanders to within a mile of our Wild Boar Wood Campsite. Either of our two great Sussex campsites are perfect places to explore Lewes or the South of England from. You can camp in style in one of our Bell Tents at both woodland campsites, or roll up with your own tent at Beech Estate.

So come and visit us some time and pop along to Lewes for a Harveys! Or if you are looking for camping while attending the Mumford & Sons concert at Lewes in July, stay in one of our Bell Tents.

Late Camping Availability in Sussex

With the August Bank Holiday Weekend almost upon us, both our Wild Boar Wood and Beech Estate Woodland Campsites are fully booked for the Saturday night. We do have some late availability for the remainder of the week leading up to the weekend, on the Friday and the Sunday and thereafter.

This can be booked via the following links;

Beech Estate Woodland Campsite (Bell Tents & Tent Pitches)

Wild Boar Wood Campsite (Bell Tents Only)

The “Faraway” Tent Pitch at Beech Estate has just been created and also has some late availability for the remainder of August and early September. The Faraway Tent Pitch is located on the crest of a hill, overlooking Bracken Valley in the woods. There is a 100 plus metre walk to the toilets and shower, but it’s our most isolated and beautiful pitch. The Tent Pitch has it’s own open campfire pit.

We hope to welcome you to the what we think are the best campsites in Sussex and the best campsites with campfires in the woods in Britain.

The Best New Campsite in Sussex

Hi all our Eco Campers,

Beech Estate Woodland Campsite is now open for bookings and we think it may well be the best new campsite in Sussex. (It could even be the best new campsite in Britain – but we may be biased!).

The campsite is set in a private 1900 acre estate – The Beech Estate – near the town of Battle and Hastings in East Sussex. It sits on the edge of a 500 acre private woodland. There are miles of forest rises you can explore – either walk or ride your bikes. It has five Bell Tents and five Tent Pitches, an custom made eco toilets in a wooded caravan and eco wood heated shower.

So if you love camping off-grid in a campsite in the woods, with campfires, please come and visit us.  Get out and enjoy the Great British Countryside and go camping.

Campfire Kindling Shed and Sandpit

Finally the rain has held off and Paul has been up at the West Sussex Campsite building away while I’m stuck in the office doing accounts!

There’s a new storage shed to hold the kindling for the campsite campfires and importantly keep the kindling dry. The sandpit sand has been collected and and the sandpit has been lined.

Tomorrow we will be filling the water storage units and preparing the bell tent carpets up at the farm storage area.

We still have a few glamping bell tents left free to book for May Bank Holiday for our opening week, but hurry as we are nearly full. The second weekend in March is already fully booked.

Campsite Opening – Rain, Rain Go Away

Wild Boar Wood Campsite – of course we think it’s the coolest campsite in Sussex (and possibly the UK) – will be opening for the May 4th Bank Holiday Weekend. There is still some camping availability on all three nights.

Our campsite in the woods has campfires – nothing like sitting next to an open fire at night – glamping in lovely bell tents, wood-fired shower, eco loos and a beautiful setting in the Sussex High Weald close to both Brighton and London.

We just hope the poor weather predicted for this week stays away long enough thereafter for us to get everything set up in time. Paul has put a new roof on the shower, built a sandpit for the kids and we have moved the eco toilet. The last few little jobs need to be done – including building the campsite compost heap, putting up the new cover for the central campfire and lots of little jobs around the site.

At least if we get rid of any rain now we are certain for great weather for the May campsite re-opening!
Hope to see you eco camping in the woods of West Sussex soon!

Cheers
Hugh

Camping Near Brighton

If you are looking for a campsite close to Brighton and London, look no further!

Our Wild Boar Wood campsite near Haywards Heath, is also nearby to Brighton – only 30 minutes if you know the shortcut through Ditchling and Slugwash Lane. The Woodland Campsite – many of our campers are calling it Sussex’s Best Campsite – is also near to London. Handy to the M23, it means that after a hard day in the office in London or Brighton you can be relaxing around the campfire while most other campers are still on the road.

The other benefit is our Bell Tents, kitted out with almost everything you need, means no more tripping over in the dark putting up your tent. Instead you will be cooking on our campfire grills and enjoying a drink, instead of battling traffic and erecting your tent in the dark.

Come and camp off-grid at Eco Camp UK.

Campfire Cooking in the Woods

With the long winter evenings getting shorter, we at Eco Camp Uk are looking forward to getting under canvas again and enjoying a bit of Spring sunshine cooking on our open fires in the woods. That glorious smell of egg, bacon, sausage, beans and tomato wafting into the tent and the kettle on for a mug of tea or fresh coffee. With the mobile switched off and little regard to the time, we can’t wait to sit around the picnic table under the shade of a tree eating a hearty breakfast.

Our Wild Boar Wood Campsite is close to London. We offer camping in the Sussex High Weald in a five acre wood, with fully equipped bell tents, open campfires, wood burning shower and an ecological ideology. We think we are one of the best campsites in Sussex and some of our campers say we are the best campsite in the UK.
